In response to the growing public health concern regarding the COVID-19 virus, the Greater Northwest Indiana Association of REALTORS® is taking the precautionary step to postpone all planned events and utilize Zoom conferencing for all scheduled Board and committee meetings.
Effective March 18th, GNIAR will not be conducting in-person meetings and will conduct all meetings via Zoom video/conference call. GNIAR will continue to review this policy weekly as new information becomes available. However, it is GNIAR’s expectation that the policy will remain in effect through March 31st.
This decision is based on the recommendations from the CDC, the announcement from health officials that multiple cases of the virus have been confirmed in Indiana and out of an abundance of caution for the safety and well-being of our REALTOR® community.
In addition to classes being postponed through March 31st, the CDC recommended all gatherings of 50 or more be postponed throughout the next 8 weeks. Because of this GNIAR is also postponing the following events:
- April 2 & 3 New Member Orientation & CE classes - New members will receive an extension to the June orientation classes, or you may take both New Member Orientation & MLS Rules & Regulations online.
- April 3 GNIAR Open House
Currently Registered for a Class?
If you are currently registered for a class during this period, you will receive a credit in your account for a future GNIAR education training.
MLS Quarterly Fees
The second quarter MLS User Fee and March monthly Office Assessment invoices are still due on March 25th (no later than March 31st). In light of the recent situation, we will allow an additional week to make payment making the new due date April 7th. *Please remember all invoices are available online for payment at gniar.com. During this time payments mailed to the office will be limited.
We all hope that this risk will pass in the near future. This decision is intended to ensure we do not inadvertently expose our employees, volunteers and members nor contribute to the spread of the virus. We know that restricting in-person meeting attendance is not going to insulate us from COVID-19 but by having this policy in place we are doing our best to avoid contributing to its spread and mitigating the risk to our members and staff. All voicemails will be monitored, however the best way to reach staff is through email. (Staff & Support Directory)
We appreciate your understanding and support and we will continue to provide updates as things evolve. For additional information please review the Center for Disease Control and Prevention website and NAR’s Guidance for REALTORS®.
