Mayor Anthony Copeland and the East Chicago Department of Redevelopment are providing Section 3 Training to all Contractors. Due to the importance of this program, seating is on a first-come, first-serve basis and you must register quickly by calling 219-391-8513, Ext. 261 to reserve a seat for yourself and one representative of your company.
Each year the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development invests billions of federal dollars into distressed communities for projects designed to build and rehabilitate housing, improve roads, develop community centers, and otherwise assist families achieve the American Dream.
The Section 3 regulation recognizes that HUD funding typically results in projects/activities that generate new employment, training and contracting opportunities. These economic opportunities not only provide “bricks and mortar”, but can also positively impact the lives of local residents who live in the neighborhoods being redeveloped.
Section 3 of the Housing and Urban Development Act of 1968 is HUD’s legislative directive for providing preference to low- and very low-income residents of the local community (regardless of race or gender), and the businesses that substantially employ these persons, for new employment, training, and contracting opportunities resulting from HUD-funded projects.
Further, as a condition of receiving HUD Community Planning and Development assistance, recipients certify that they will comply with the requirements of Section 3 annually. Accordingly, the Department of Redevelopment has the legal responsibility to monitor recipients for compliance and can impose penalties upon those that fail to meet their obligations.
All work is required to meet all applicable local, state, and federal codes and regulations with the minimum qualifications as follows:

The purpose of these workshops is to provide an opportunity to update attendees on project status, proposed stations and facilities, and next steps in the evaluation process. These workshops will provide the opportunity for attendees to ask questions and provide input to the planning process.

The Young Professionals Network is a dynamic entry point for real estate professionals striving to become more successful in their careers.
Networking events - We host exciting networking events to converse with other professionals and create new relationships within the industry.
Learning opportunities - Roundtable discussions, media minutes, guest speakers, all designed to help you excel and build your business.
Philanthropy events - Help give back to your community by joining us in volunteering with several local organizations.
Meetings are normally held once a month on the third Thursday, 10am at the GNIAR office. (subject to change)
